Get It While You Can: The Dating Profile of John Daniel Gore ? In ...

In an attempt to become more like the shiksa yentas of their dreams, Nico and Patrick have developed a questionnaire for willing writers to fill out.? They feel this will help showcase the writer?s stellar assets and get them laid/meet wonderful people.? The writers of In Our Words deserve nice things.?

If this were a beauty pageant, how would you introduce yourself?

This tiara is too small and I feel dehydrated?is the microphone on?!? Hello, my name is John Daniel! I have many endearing talents but you should like me because my swimming trunks are short and I have nice legs! I also want world peace?too much.

When did you stop believing in Santa Claus??

My belief in Santa tapered until I was about ten years old because I was enjoying the game and illusions. At that age, I joined in the gift-giving rituals and my new game became finding gifts for people that are unexpected, yet appropriate for them. I stole Santa Claus?s role.

What?s something that almost no one knows or that you usually don?t tell people about yourself?

I like to feel pretty sometimes, too. I might put a flower behind my ear, use a fragrant shampoo, smear-on a little glitter when no one is around. I want to be appreciated for that as much as my other qualities.

What you think is our culture?s biggest hang up with sex and dating?

To turn the question on its head, look for our culture?s hang-ups and watch how they spread to sex and dating. Some people become programmed to be consumers rather than participants in their affairs: wanting outcomes, unengaged in processes. The culture often fails to function outside of these commercial heuristics.

How do you think we can foster world peace?

Honestly, it will take a mass paradigm shift that starts locally and a concerted effort to expose children to cultural differences and perspective-taking. We are failing to humanize ?the other.? Children have the capacity to absorb unconditional compassion if we refuse to feed them rationalizations for fear and violence.

What are your long-term goals?

I am learning to be in one-day-at-a-time mode as I complete an assignment that is teaching me about being at peace with life and myself. My life goals include extending my cross-cultural knowledge, writing books & articles, building deep relationships, staying healthy, and someday joining an amateur jazz ensemble.

If you had to stay in on a Friday night alone or with someone special, how would you spend it?

First, I need to pick-up an instrument and jam to unwind from the week. Then, I would switch on my stereo and do some recreational cooking. After dinner we can settle on the couch ? either to read to or trade stories with my company and do some nuzzling.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was small, I wanted to be a handy-man because my grandfather worked on houses and I was determined to be just like him. He was actually a local politician and landlord who did the maintenance on the properties he owned. Of course, his grandfather had been a carpenter.

?What are the lessons you learned from your most significant relationship?

Though I ultimately want physical chemistry and romance with a person, nothing replaces having a true friendship to accompany that. Being a good friend to a partner is never something to regret and being treated with that kind of affectionate respect is unforgettable.

What?s your ideal first date?

For the first date, I want it simple and casual but classy. We can get dinner at a small restaurant and then go for a walk together, maybe by a river. If we feel like it, we can get some coffee and plan a more off-the-wall second date together.

Are you a dog person or a cat person and why?

I can appreciate cats but I connect better with dogs. I had a close friendship with a dog in my teenage years. I like to run around outdoors and I enjoy the horseplay, the comical obviousness of canine emotions, and watching them follow a scent.

What?s one thing you want to tell the world?

The time has come to release ideas of The United States? exceptionalism and embrace a more modest role in the global community. The US and particular allies are creating cycles of self-fulfilling prophesy in regards to security. There is no shame to admitting mistakes and taking a radically new direction.

Britney or Christina?

It has to be Christina; I know she has musicality because Herbie Hancock collaborated with her on his album Possibilities. ?It?s her voice, his piano, and some light percussion (that?s it) and she does it stunningly.

What TV show could you spend all day watching?

I was always a sucker for wildlife shows on Discovery & Animal Planet. I could stand to watch ?Big-Cat Diaries? or something similarly focused all day long.

What would your superpower be?

I would see in broader spectrums; literally. I already have good night-vision but I would love to see in infra-red so I could detect danger through walls and in darkness. I also would like to see in ultra-violet, in order to know what bees see on a regular day.

How much is that doggy in the window?

The doggy is ?free,? before shots and procedures.

At gunpoint, if you had to pick one of the current GOP candidates to be our future president, who would it be and why?

At gun-point, I would say Newt Gingrich in order to stun my assailant. I could explain how electing him would be like a nightmarish drug-trip that could scare the United States into a 180-degree turn that saves the nation from self-inflicted doom; that should cause paralysis.

What was the first life lesson you ever learned?

At 3 years of age, I learned that people are different; they are different from each other, from me, and sometimes from themselves. There does not have to be an expressed reason. I am coming to an even deeper appreciation of this lesson in adulthood. I am different, too.

Big spoon or little spoon?

Even at six feet tall, it?s nice to be little spoon sometimes! I cherish the idea of a love who will affectionately seize me from behind and drag me onto a cushy surface for a thorough cuddling. Little spoon gets to feel precious, even if he is a big guy.

What?s the most important thing to you in a relationship?

At risk of sounding clich?, it has to be a sense of trust and mutual support that allows me to share everything about myself without fear and for us to challenge each other to grow without feeling as if our connection will be lost in the process.

Finish the phrase:? I could never be with someone who:

does not like to try new things, go new places, and entertain new ideas.
